Ya might need to check the file size Maniac. The limit on size is 25KB's and 200x200 pixels. Ill see if I can compress it for ya. That lil Southparky wrestler sure is cool too tho.

There ya go! I don't know why it wouldn't upload - it's within the size limits. I just inserted it directly to the database.

I had a lil' sketch that I put up so my friend can get an idea on how to make a double-bass drum set and I had a hard time takin it off, but somehow accomplished it.
But now the same thing is happenin tryin to "put up" a photo and I dunno why.
I'm still new (bout 1yr.1/2) at all this PC shit.
I could use all the help I can get but I kno' that it can be a pain fer someone like yerself to try and lend a hand to someone who doesn't have experience.
I'd like to get more of a jist on how to make a page have what 'you' want on it (images, sound, etc.) and not just what the 'server' has available.
Take my freewebspace site for example, it's a basic "this is what we have (templates), so USE IT!" ...
Then I would see someone elses freewebspace site and I'm like "how the fuck did they do that?"

I signed up for a freewebspace account so I could get in and find out about them. It's a pretty standard setup, you have the choice of using their templates to make a "cookie-cutter" site, or you can make your own site and upload it to the server. They show WS-FTP support, so that's good. With WS-FTP you'll be able to build and test your site on your home pc and then upload it directly to your space at freeweb. That's probably what those people did, who have the sites that make you say "WOW".
I made a website to teach beginners how to code their own pages that will help you get started, and there's a message board there (similar to this one) where you can post if you need help. If you have ideas for a site design, let me know and I'll work up a template for you. HTML coding is pretty easy to understand once you get the basics down. Check out my coding site at http://webcode101.com , and let me know about any ideas you have for a site design.
I'm retired, and I help beginners with their sites all the time, so it's no trouble!

My freewebspace says I'm allowed 20MB's of space, right?
My folder says I'm usin 42KB's, tellin me I only used 2.0MB's and that I have 18.0MB's worth o' space left.
So, why then are my pics sometimes not bein shown when I link em?

They have scripts in place to prevent you from linking to your files from pages that are not on their server. Most free servers do that now. It keeps people from using their accounts merely for file storage. They want all your visitors to see the freewebspace ads, and if you link remotely (like on this forum) you are using their bandwidth to display files and they are getting no benefit from it. That's why they give free space in the first place - so they can sell advertising space.

Depends what kind of a picture you want. I usually do a Google search for a specific thing, like "fantasy art" for instance. When you find something you like, you need to make sure the artist will allow you to use their art as an avatar, then the image will probably need to be shrunk to fit the size parameters allowed here.
If you give me an idea of the style of picture you have in mind, I'll see what I can come up with for you.

Be sure to check those copyright notices!
Some artists get kinda skinny in the nose if you use their stuff!
And that's a bummer; if they were a little less picky, their stuff would be more well-known! Heck, they would be more well-known!
Oh well, their loss!

That covers alot of territory on images lucky. I have a wiccan symbol i thought ws really cool and youre welcome to use it if you like. If its not what you meant then doing a search on google images for wiccan, pagan and archangel should give you quite a few pics to choose from. Heres the one i have if you want to use it here.

Hi lucky,
The avatar you tried to upload is a .bmp file. The scripts will only accept a .gif or a .jpg file, that's why the red "X" box is showing instead of your avatar image. If you want me to convert it for you, send me the image in an email and I'll install it to the database for you.

Hey Steve. If you still have problems, email a copy of it to Miss V, and when she gets back, she can help you out.
